The young Finn proves it’s not just beginners luck

Kallio Racing’s Niki Tuuli has once again proved his competitiveness in the WorldSSP championship by finishing his race in Magny-Cours on the podium- the second time he has done so in just his second race in the Championship.

Kallio Racing joined the 2016 FIM Supersport World Championship with their two wildcard entrants Niki Tuuli and Hannes Soomer, at the last Round at the Lausitzring. Both riders were instantly impressive, placing in the top ten with Tuuli even coming second in his first race!

Many thought the instant success was owed to ‘beginners luck’, however in Round 11 at Magny-Cours over the weekend, Tuuli instantly proved everyone wrong. The young Finn qualified once again in the top ten and finished the race in second position after briefly leading experienced French WorldSSP winner Jules Cluzel. He even set the quickest lap of the race.

“I had a good start and climbed up few positions from the start,” said Tuuli. “After that we had a tight battle just behind the leading group and slowly I reached the top 3. Sofuoglu crashed when I was in 3rd position, right behind top 2. And so after that I saw an opening and got in front as quickly as I could.”

According to team manager Vesa Kallio, his team’s results have been what he has been expected so far. With so much potential and two very impressive outings for their riders so far, WorldSBK fans can only imagine what a whole season of racing could see the young team achieve.

Kallio Racing will see out the next round of 2016 Supersport World Championship, as they look to excite at their next opportunity at the Circuito De Jerez on the 14-16th of October.
